Case Study 6 - Sutton & Ashfield Leisure Centre

CJ Haughey Construction were awarded the contract from Alfred Mc Alpine to provide a full groundworks package at the North Ashfield Leisure Centre for Ashfield District Council. The contract follows the companys recent work on a similar scheme  - the £14m Tudor Grange Leisure Centre in Solihull, being built by Leadbitter Construction Ltd. For the North Ashfield Leisure Centre, CJ Haughey Construction provided all formwork, earthworks and installed all associated drainage.

The package included construction of a swimming pool, ice skating rink, squash courts and associated car parks. 

"CJ Haughey Construction carried out all of the groundworks and external finishes and thanks mainly to CJ Haughey, we managed to complete the handover 6 weeks ahead of programme.

They completed extraordinary works including working around live 11KVA cables, excavation of the swimming pools and pouring of the 1400m2 first floor slab over an area of 1400m2 in one continuous pour.

The slabs were finished to a high tolerance due to the supporting system single span floor beams below."
